Charles Menadelook project : photographs, ca. 1900-1950.

The collection consists of 191 black and white photographs depicting native villages and people, missionaries, teachers, school houses, hunting, whaling, and fishing. Villages shown include Diomede, Gambell, Wales, Nome, Shaktoolik, King Island (Ukivok), and Shishmaref. The project is Alaska Historical Commission Studies in History No. 78.

The Charles Menadelook Project was developed in order to collect and preserve the photographs of Alaskan photographer, Charles Menadelook. The project was funded by a grant from the Alaska Historical Commission and was supported by the Eskimo Heritage Program of Kanerak, Inc. It was conducted by Eileen Norbert in 1982.
